Having said that I had to re string this bass, when I did I noticed that the ball of the string was too big to feed through the factory hole in the bridge from the top. We just ask that one allow for and expect what is normal and typical of this genre of vintage instrument. Japanese instruments are typically quirky and sometimes even problematic but they do some very interesting things sonically and often look great. The pleasant surprise is how great it sounds, the original large pickups are loud efficient and have great bandwidth, very deep robust bass with a sweet top end. The bass also sounds quite good the pickup selector rocker switches are typically glichy, both pickups work and sound wonderful, the switching is an issue you do have to play with it to make it work. Straight neck with a working truss rod, the neck is big not overly wide but very deep and quite a handful, a large neck by anyone’s standards. Otherwise a very fine example of an all-original and fairly rare instrument. No modifications or repairs except for one changed tuner(G string) three changed neck bolt screws and one missing pickguard screw. Block inlay markers and a striking sunburst finish.
